SPEAKER PROFILES:

Dr Vineet Talwar

Vineet Talwar is a Medical Oncologist. He currently serves as the Director, Department of Medical Oncology at RGCIRC, New Delhi, India a position he has held since May 2002. He holds a Doctorate of Medicine in Medical Oncology from the Cancer Institute, Adyar, in Chennai.

His areas of interest include: Ovarian Cancer, Breast, Cervical, Pancreatic, Lung, Urinary Bladder, Gallbladder, Stomach, Renal, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Lymphoma and Testicular Cancer.

Dr Vineet has published widely in peer reviewed journals. He has received numerous national awards in recognition of his work.

Dr Khadija Warfa

Khadija Warfa is a Consultant Gynecologic Oncologist, who completed her gynaecological oncology fellowship at the University of Calgary, Canada.

Currently Dr. Warfa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Aga Khan University Hospital, where she had done her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training. She is involved in the training and supervision of postgraduate students.

Dr. Warfa is a member of the African Cancer Coalition and European society of gynecologic oncology (ESGO). She is involved in the Harmonized NCCN guidelines and is a technical advisor to the Kenya National cancer treatment protocols with the objective to reduce mortality related to Gynecologic Cancers in Kenya.

Moderator: Dr Benjamin Odongo Elly

Benjamin Odongo Elly is a Senior Lecturer, Obstetrician/Gynaecologist and Gynecologic Oncologist with over 20 years of experience in clinical practice and programmatic leadership of public health initiatives.

He previously served as the Head of Department of Gynaecologic Oncology at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Eldoret, a position he had held since completion of Clinical Fellowship Training in Gynaecologic Oncology (Moi University/University of Toronto) including International Gynecologic Cancer Society(IGCS) Global Mentorship Program.

Prior to his current engagement, Dr. Elly was The Technical lead of Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV/Maternal and Child Health (PMTCT/MCH) at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Dr. Elly has held various teaching positions, balancing lectures with clinical duties and student mentorship. He is a published researcher and in the process of developing multiple protocols. He has presented at International and local conferences and participated in various reproductive health discussion forums.

Dr. Elly is the former President of The Kenya Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (KOGS).
