Dr. Asim Jamal Shaikh is an Associate Professor and Division Chief of medical oncology at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUHN). He has vast experience of working in the field of medical oncology through his engagements in clinical responsibilities, education, research, academics, and administrative roles. His main clinical and research interests are in breast cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphomas. Prof. Shaikh has an active research portfolio and teaching responsibilities, having been an investigator in research projects assessing the East African aspects of breast cancer, such as distribution patterns of mammographic breast density, prevalence and characteristics of Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), and characteristics of breast cancer in young African women. He holds fellowships from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. He also holds Medical Oncology Certification from the Royal College of Physicians (UK). He is also a fellow of Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh. He has several research publications to his credit and is frequently invited to speak at medical oncology conferences both regionally and internationally.
