Ms. Benda N. Kithaka

Benda N. Kithaka is passionate about health advocacy, and cancer prevention / control in Africa. She and her team of dedicated volunteers contribute to the advocacy agenda in calling on policy makers to prioritise cancer prevention and control in Africa.
Their programmes include Policy advocacy, Community awareness, education and screening, patient navigation for access to quality affordable treatment, and social reintegration of women cancer survivors through income generating activities. The organisation collaborates with Ministry of Health, County First Ladies Association, Kenyan Network of Cancer Organisations and the American Cancer Society among others.
An alumni of the AORTIC Master Cancer Advocacy Trainer Programme, and trained public speaker, her advocacy work in Africa includes involvement in drafting of the Cancer Control Strategy in Kenya 2017 – 2022; writing the WHO Regional Office for Africa Advocacy For Cervical Cancer Prevention and Control in Africa Facilitator Manual, and training Expert Trainers of Trainers [ToT] from 10 AFRO Countries in use of the toolkit for advocating for cervical cancer prevention and control in Africa. Benda is on the ASCO Resource-Stratified Guideline Advisory Group and the NCI/CGH Africa Cancer Research and Control ECHO® Program.
She is a recipient of the 2017 AACE Selma Morris Memorial Travel Scholarship Award, and the 2016 Cancer Ambassador of the Year in Kenya.
