Dr Anne Mwirigi is a Consultant Haematologist and Assistant Professor at Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi.

As Section Head of Haematology, she strives to deliver a high standard of haematology care to patients, in addition to having a governance and education mandate. She is clinical lead for the Haematology Multidisciplinary Tumour Board and the Departmental Monthly Mortality and Morbidity Meeting, as well as convening the monthly Journal Club and a founding member of the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee.

Dr Mwirigi is keen on high quality of clinical care, education and clinical research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and local service improvement projects. Her interests include malignant haematology, specifically acute myeloid leukaemia and myeloma, as well as transfusion services.

Dr Mwirigi obtained her undergraduate MBChB degree at the University of Glasgow in 2002, and intercalated degree BSc(MedSci) in 2000. After completing MRCP PACES in 2007, she underwent Specialist Registrar Training at King’s College Hospital and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals in London, attaining the FRCPath in 2012. She received her Certificate of Completion of Training from the London Deanery in 2014.

She is Fellow of the Royal Society of Physicians (Edin), MRCP PACES examiner and Fellow of the Royal Society of Pathologists.

She is a member of KESHO, ASH and EHA.
