SPEAKER PROFILES:
Dr Omar Abdihamid
Omar Abdihamid is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Head of the Department at Garissa Regional Cancer Center.
He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Oncology from Central South University in China and is pursuing an MPH at the James Lind Institute in Geneva.
Dr. Abdihamid is also a graduate of the 2024 Cancer Research Fellowship at Queen’s University in Canada. His clinical focus includes treating Esophageal and Head and Neck cancers, which are common in Northern Kenya.
His research interests include Cancer epidemiology, clinical trial audits, value-based care, and cancer care equity. He is a published researcher, a member of the AORTIC Special Interest Group on Cancer Care in Conflict, and recently joined the KESHO Research Sub-Committee.
Dr Abdullahi Hadi
Abdullahi Hadi is a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Dr. Hadi Gastro Centre. He holds a medical degree from Zhejiang University (China), a Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine from the University of Nairobi, and did his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Pretoria. He is a Fellow of the College of Physicians (East, Central, and Southern Africa) and the College of Medicine of South Africa.
Dr. Hadi is an active member of the Kenya Association of Physicians, the Gastroenterology Society of Kenya, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and the South African Gastroenterology Society. His professional interests include gastrointestinal oncology.
Dr Mohamed Noor
Mohamednoor is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Garissa County Referral hospital.
Dr. Noor completed his Master of Medicine in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Nairobi.
He is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and ESMO and is a Ca-Esophagus enthusiast.
Dr Tracy Irura (Moderator)
Tracy Irura is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital and a Chief Clinician ICRF Kenya.
She holds a Master’s in Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine from Alexandria University, Egypt.
Dr Irura is the co-founder of the Integrated Cancer Research Foundation of Kenya, an NGO that seeks to rid Africa of the cancer burden and be a leading cancer research organization in the world
