SPEAKER PROFILES:

Dr Primus Ocieng
Primus Ochieng is the Programme Director of MMed Radiation Oncology training at the University of Nairobi. He is both a lecturer and a consultant clinical oncologist at Kenyatta National Hospital.

He has keen interest in Head and neck, prostate cancer treatment. Dr. Ochieng is committed to ensure the program produce well qualified oncologists who will make a difference in cancer treatment in the region. To achieve this, he is keen in collaborating with various centers in the developed world in areas of training, research and skill development.

Dr Omondi Ogude
Omondi Ogude is a medical oncologist serving as a director of the Sandton Oncology Medical Group and practices at the Sandton Oncology Centre. Dr. Ogude received his medical degree in 2005 from the University of the Witwatersrand. He subsequently completed his Internal Medicine specialisation in 2011 and a medical oncology fellowship in 2014 at the same institution.

Dr. Ogude specialises in Lung, Breast, Gastrointestinal, and Gynecological malignancies and is actively involved in research. He serves as a principal investigator and sub-investigator on multiple trials. He also chairs and sits on various multidisciplinary forums in Johannesburg and advisory boards locally and internationally.

He is dedicated to advocacy work in oncology, serving as a director and board member of Campaigning For Cancer and The Johnson Rose Cancer Foundation, both non-profit organisations that promote better cancer care and awareness in South Africa.

He is an active member of the South African Oncology Consortium, European Society of Medical Oncology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr Cathy Samo 
Cathy Samo is a general pathologist at Coast General Teaching & Referral Hospital. Her main areas of interest include anatomic pathology, hematopathology and forensic pathology.

Dr Noordin Bashir (Moderator)
Noordin Bashir Somo is a consultant Clinical Oncologist working at Defense Forces Memorial Hospital, Nairobi.He  has a Master’s degree in Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine from Alexandria University, Egypt.

He is a member of Kenya Society of Hematology and Oncology (KESHO), American Society of Clinical Oncologist (ASCO) and the European Society of Medical Oncologists (ESMO).

His areas of interest include breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, CNS, gynecological and genitourinary cancers.
