The Kenya Society of Hematology and Oncology (KESHO), the Queen’s Global Oncology Program in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) is pleased to offer a limited number (10) of bursaries for the KICC 2024 Faculty Development Pre-Conference Workshop taking place on the 20th of November 2024, Kisumu, Kenya.

Bursaries to attend the Faculty Development Workshop will take the form of financial aid to the amount of 1,200 USD for non-Kenyan applicants and 400 USD for applicants living in Kenya. The financial aid will be paid on reimbursement basis to support applicants’ transport, accommodation, and registration for the Faculty Development Workshop.

The bursaries are intended to support individuals who would not otherwise be able to attend the workshop.

Eligibility

African oncologists involved in cancer care, teaching, and training.

Conditions

The award of a bursary will be conditional upon the recipient attending the workshop.

Please also note that successful candidates would be required to fund their own registration, travel, and accommodation. Sequel to this, the awarded fund would be reimbursed to them upon the submission of receipts.

Application process

On the form you will need to give a 250-word motivation. This motivation should give a detailed explanation of:

  • Why you wish to attend the Faculty Development Workshop
  • The impact you believe your attendance will make to your affiliated institution and country with respect to cancer care, teaching and training
  • Why you require financial assistance to attend the conference.

The closing date for applying for the bursary is 4th October 2024 (4pm UTC)

The Bursary Committee will review the applications and determine the successful recipients. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their bursary application by email on 11th of October 2024. Successful candidates will be required to register for the Workshop before the 17th of October 2024.
