Kenya to Host Major Global and Continental Cancer Convenings in 2027

Nairobi, Kenya — November 10, 2025
Kenya is set to play a central role in advancing cancer research, policy and collaboration in 2027, with Nairobi selected to host two major international oncology convenings that underscore the country’s growing leadership in cancer control across Africa.
From 6–9 November 2027, the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC), in partnership with the Kenya Society of Haematology & Oncology (KESHO), will host the 16th AORTIC International Cancer Conference in Nairobi. The conference will convene researchers, clinicians, scientists, policymakers and advocates to advance Africa’s cancer research, training and collaboration agenda.
Later that month, from 24–28 November 2027, Nairobi will also host the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit, organized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in partnership with the National Cancer Institute of Kenya. The Summit is a high-level policy forum that brings together global decision-makers, civil society leaders, researchers and private sector partners to shape the future of cancer policy and control worldwide.
Commenting on the significance of the Summit’s return to Africa, Dr Miriam Mutebi, Member of the UICC Board of Directors, said:
“It is a privilege to welcome the global cancer community to Nairobi for the 2027 World Cancer Leaders’ Summit. This return to Africa, following the Summit held in Cape Town in 2013, highlights the continent’s growing leadership role and offers a unique opportunity to engage with the challenges and progress shaping cancer control across Africa, while strengthening regional and global partnerships.”
In 2027, Nairobi will stand as a key global hub for advancing collaboration, innovation, and collective action toward improved cancer outcomes for Africa and the world.
