Dr. Dulcie Wanda is a Consultant Clinical and Radiation Oncologist at the Nakuru County Referral Hospital. She specializes in the clinical management of solid tumors (Breast Cancer, GI Cancers, and Radiosurgery). As a Kenyan Sign Language Interpreter, Dr. Wanda champions inclusive cancer care while attending to her patients, ensuring cancer care, communication, and medical education meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing patients.
Dr. Wanda pioneered Oncology Care at Nakuru Provincial General Hospital where she previously worked. She helped set up departmental operations, streamlined oncology referral systems, mentored and trained Medical and Clinical Officer Interns to enhance oncology services at the facility, and developed public-private partnerships to scale access to cancer treatment, particularly bone marrow aspirations and core biopsies.
Dr. Wanda is also a Cancer Advocate and uses her voice to change the narrative in the fight against cancer. She is actively involved in raising awareness, providing support, and educating patients to advance the health of individuals and communities with Faraja Cancer Support Trust, where she serves as a Support Group Facilitator.
Dr. Wanda also advocates through the media, and has made several appearances on TV and Radio Stations and on print to demystify cervical cancer, reduce stigma, and educate survivors on how to lead happier, healthier lives.
A Graduate of the University of Nairobi, Dr. Wanda holds a Master’s degree in Radiation Oncology, Masters in Organization Development and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya. She also serves as the treasurer at Kenya Medical Association- Nakuru Division
