Dr. Tibera Rugambwa obtained her MD (Doctor of Medicine) from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), in 2013. She did her internship at Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital, which is the zonal referral hospital for Southern Highland zone of Tanzania. After completing her one-year internship programme, she was employed in the same institution as a General Practitioner (GP) where she has been working till today.

In 2019, she went to China to pursue her Masters’ degree in Clinical Oncology at Central South University (CSU) in Changsha, China, where she graduated in 2023.

Dr. Tibera is the first author and has co-authored a number of publications in the field of Clinical Oncology in Immunotherapy and predictive and prognostic biomarkers of clinical benefit in cancer patients treated with immunotherapy.

She is a member of Tanzania Oncology Society (TOS), Kenya Society of Haematology and Oncology (KESHO) , AORTIC (African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) as well as European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).

She continues to be an advocate for early diagnosis of cancer and is greatly involved in programs that focus on providing easy access to basic screening services to the under privileged. She has organized and participated in medical camps under MAT (Medical Association of Tanzania) and MEWATA (Medical Women Association of Tanzania) and faith based organizations to provide screening services for cervical cancer and breast cancer.
