Dr Veronica Kemunto Manduku

A medical imaging specialist having graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2004 with an MMED in Diagnostic imaging.

As the Director, Centre for Clinical research in KEMRI, she heads a team of scientific experts in infectious and non-communicable disease research including specialist clinicians, trialists, nurses and laboratory personnel who work at various trial sites in the country and the National Cancer Registry.

Her work has been in medical imaging and supported clinical trials and research in the Malaria vaccine trial, Pneumonia etiology studies and was lead imaging expert in the Kenya National TB survey. She also conducted studies in Miraa and health effects with colleagues.

Her key objective is improving quality of care in Kenya and the world, through health research and establishment of quality standards in Imaging especially in cancer screening and diagnosis.

Current work and interests are in cancer epidemiology, health systems and implementation science.

She serves as a member of the KEMRI Noncommunicable Disease Program and spearheads cancer research with an aim of finding networks of scientists and collaborators with an interest in cancer research. She sits as a member of the Technical Working Group for the Ministry of Health Cancer Control Program, at the prevention, screening and early detection working group and the monitoring, evaluation and research working group.

She also serves as the Chair of the Kenya Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology in Kenya.
