Ruth Muia is a Deputy Director, Nursing Services working for the Ministry of Health-National level. She is currently deployed at the National Cancer Institute of Kenya to support cancer prevention and awareness activities. She has a wide experience in Nursing practice, Policy formulation; reproductive health and cancer prevention and control to include palliative care. She has contributed immensely in Nursing and health policy formulation and training nurse midwives and other health care providers. Her contribution in health research is note worth.

Ruth also worked with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) that regulates nurse and midwife education and practice. Among others, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Sciences from the University of Nairobi; a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Dundee, Scotland-UK; Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights from Lunds University in Sweden. Currently she is pursuing her PhD studies in Nursing and midwifery at the University of Nairobi.
